Rita Apaloo is a passionate strategic communications professional specializing in multicultural communication, education and outreach to engage traditionally under-served communities. She currently works with African-born and immigrant communities to develop partnerships with and provide education to organizations, groups and individuals and also designs and implements health programs for adults and youth.
Rita has a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, a Mini Masters in Business Communication and is a Certified Professional Project Manager (CPPM). She was Founder and President of African Women Connect (AWC), a one-of-a-kind networking and relationship-building organization for African immigrant women in the Twin Cities that served women originally from over 20 African Countries.
Passionate about community engagement work, Rita is involved in various projects, especially around issues of women’s rights.
Rita Apaloo will be joining us on October 30 to share how she uses the book, Imprisoned: The Travails of a Trafficked victim in her work to generate discussion and learning around culture, healthy relationships, intimate partner violence, and human trafficking, among other things.
