Bukola Oriola Group, LLC, a Minnesota based small business launched the first magazine focused solely on published authors.
The magazine is a secondary product by journalist, Bukola Oriola who began the journey of interviewing authors on her Public Figure Facebook page over a year ago. According to her, she wanted to promote her book, A Living Label: An Inspirational Memoir and Guide to raise money to empower survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and decided to bring two other authors on board to promote their books.
Although, the event did not go as planned, it turned out to be a blessing. Lipstick and Literacy, which Oriola later revised to Lipstick, Lip Balm & Literacy was the result that came out of the not so good experience. Oriola thought that the authors who came on the live show on her Facebook page where sharing valuable nuggets that could be helpful to both prospective and veteran authors, so she decided to put her print journalism hat to use by turning some of those interviews into black and white in a magazine format.
This idea became Lipstick, Lip Balm & Literacy Magazine known as L Magazine.
