Long Bio

Bukola Oriola is a speaker, author, mentor, advocate, entrepreneur, and member of the U.S. Advisory Council on Human Trafficking. Appointed by President Barack Obama in December 2015, Oriola is also an award winning journalist and a survivor of labor trafficking, who has dedicated her life to helping others by sharing her story and offering practical solutions to service providers, clinics, community members, and law enforcement on how to rescue victims of human trafficking. Oriola is a consultant for Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center (OVCTTAC).

Oriola is an author, who has dedicated her life to helping others by sharing her story through public presentations. Her memoir, entitled Imprisoned: The Travails of a Trafficked Victim serves as an eye opener to everybody across the world about human trafficking.

She was awarded Change Maker 2009 by the Minnesota Women’s Press for her courage. Oriola is the producer of Imprisoned Show, a TV Show produced at local Public Access TV station, North Metro TV, Blaine, bringing undivided media attention to the issue of human trafficking through the broadcast media. In 2013, she founded a non-profit organization, The Enitan Story to advocate for victims and empower survivors of human trafficking and domestic abuse.

Oriola is an entrepreneur and has owned Bukola Braiding and Beauty Supply, LLC for almost a decade where she has transformed business from just braiding hair to training others how to braid hair and start their own businesses.

Oriola is currently enrolled at Metropolitan State University, St. Paul Minnesota pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in the Individualized Degree program with a focus on Community Leadership and Diversity.
